DOWN/CROWBAR's KIRK WINDSTEIN Interviewed At U.K.'s DOWNLOAD
June 24, 2009Comedian Andrew O'Neill conducted an interview with guitarist Kirk Windstein (DOWN, CROWBAR, KINGDOM OF SORROW) at this year's Download festival, which was held June 12-14 at Donington Park, United Kingdom. Watch the seven-minute chat below.
During a recent chat with NME TV, DOWN drummer Jimmy Bower revealed that the band will tour select U.S. markets with the MELVINS in August/September. The group will then return to the studio from October through December to record what will eventually become the fourth DOWN album, tentatively due in early 2010.
CROWBAR has reportedly parted ways with guitarist Steve Gibb and have replaced him with Matthew Brunson, bassist of KINGDOM OF SORROW (the band featuring CROWBAR guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein). Brunson made his live debut with CROWBAR on May 29 at Grant Street in Lafayette, Louisiana.
In other news, CROWBAR's forthcoming box set, which will be released via DOWN/ex-PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo's record label Housecore Records, will include the full-self titled demo from THE SLUGS (pre-CROWBAR) that was recorded in April 1990. Songs include "Subversion", "A Breed Apart", "My Agony", "No Quarter" (LED ZEPPELIN cover),"My 4 Walls" and the unreleased track "Brain Freeze".
The lineup on the demo was as follows:
Kirk Windstein: Vocals, Guitars
Jimmy Bower: Drums
Kevin Noonan: Guitars
Todd Strange: Bass
CROWBAR will be re-releasing the majority of its back catalog through Housecore Records. Also planned is a new live record and a CD of new material.
